WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY?

Philosophy literally means "love of wisdom" from latin words philosophia. According to these some individuals philosophy is defined as follows:

“Philosophy means the complete liberty of the mind, and therefore independence of all social, political, or religious prejudice."

-Henri Amiel

Philosophy begins “in an experience of disappointment”, that is both religious and political.

-Simon Critchley:

Philosophy is the art of forming, inventing, and fabricating concepts.

-Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari

“Nothing can be imagined which is too strange or incredible to have been said by some philosopher.”

-Rene Descartes

Philosophy is man’s quest for the unity of knowledge: it consists in a perpetual struggle to create the concepts in which the universe can be conceived as a universe and not a multiverse.

-William Halverson

“Philosophy is the most effective of all the intellectual pursuits. It builds cathedrals before the workmen have moved a stone, and it destroys them before the elements have worn down their arches. It is the architect of the buildings of the spirit, and it is also their solvent.”

-Alfred Whitehead

Well, philosophy for me is one’s freedom to choose on the beliefs and learn to justify these beliefs by seeking answers to questions he has on mind. With this, one may start from nothing but with the challenges, failures and successes you experience in life you will become something. This something may brought change to you, to family, to friends and even to the world.
